Sitting and poses

Sit on stairs and slabs, lie down where you are, or crawl through small gaps.

These features are free for everyone in every world.

Sitting on blocks

Right-click one of these blocks with an empty hand to sit down.

• Stairs
• Bottom slabs
• Carpets, including moss carpets
• Snow

To sit on another type of block or simply sit where you are, use this command.

/sit

Press sneak to stand up. In Java Edition, the default sneak key is Shift.

You also stand up automatically if the block you are sitting on is broken.

Lying down and posing

Use these commands to pose in place. Press sneak to stop.

Command	Pose
/lay	Lie on your back
/bellyflop	Lie face down
/legsup	Sit with your legs raised
/spin	Spin in place

You cannot interact with blocks or other players while posing.

Crawling

Use this command to start crawling. You can pass through gaps 1 block high.

/crawl

Sneaking in front of a 1-block-high passage also starts crawling automatically.

Press sneak again to stand up.

Sitting on other players

Right-click another player with an empty hand to sit on their head.

The player carrying you can press sneak to make you get off.

If you do not want to sit on or carry other players, toggle it for yourself with this command. Run it again to restore the previous behavior.

/sit playertoggle

Disabling right-click sitting

If sitting when you right-click blocks gets in your way, toggle that behavior with this command. Run it again to turn it back on.

/sit toggle

You can still enter /sit to sit where you are.

I cannot sit, or I see 「ここに座るのは安全ではありません」 (It is not safe to sit here)

You cannot sit in midair or where the ground beneath you is unsafe. Try standing on solid ground.

Only the block types listed above support right-click sitting. For other blocks, stand on the block and use /sit.
